Another Oklahoma Day

June 1, 2008

Wow another big storm. We experienced some heavy straight line winds coming from the North during church service today. The sermon title was appropriate given the weather “Huff and Puff and blow the house down”.  Tree branches did fall on a few cars but very minimal damage. Contacted my potential client after the storm to see if he had any leaks found that the tarp had blown off but no water leaks.

The kids are in Colorado so they missed out on this storm. I did take advantage of the lack of kids and took my wife out to Johnny Carinno’s she had the lasagna I had the combo the waiter said I was the only one that he had ever seen eat the entire combo in one seating.

Went down to the house to fix the tarp and got it stapled down. Rule #1 never go on a wet wood shake roof it is very slippery. However, God protected me so that I could fix that tarp.

I got soaked…

May 31, 2008

I had visited with a potential customer the other day about a roof and he stated that he had a leak. He did not want to go under contract just yet was looking for bids at this time. Today it looked like it might rain so I ran to Home Depot picked up a tarp called the home owner informing them that I was on my way to cover their roof.  I got the roof covered and thought I had everything in place when it started raining I put up my equipment and the home owner gave me a generous donation all I had asked for was the cost of the materials. As I got in the car I looked at the roof and saw that the lower corner of the tarp had flipped up I grabbed my stapler and my ladder and jumped back on the roof in the pouring rain and pea sized hail. My car seat is still airing out.

The Power of Faith

May 30, 2008

I have not had a steady paycheck since I left at&t been doing many odd jobs working to make ends meet. I am at the end of the month and I looked into the pile of bills on my desk along with my empty bank account and said “Father, how am I to take care of my family?” I waited in silence and this verse came to mind Matthew 17:20 “if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible.”  Another key verse that was lifted up to me was was Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you,” if we put these two verses together with faith nothing is impossible and ask that it will be given to you.

The past few months I started visiting Church on the Move here in Tulsa that is Pastored by Willie George and the past couple of Wednesday during bible study the focus has been on the Power of the name Jesus. Pastor Willie gave me a key verse John 16:23-24 that basically states God will give unto you whatever you ask in Jesus’s name. I know I am severly paraphrasing that passage so look it up then compare this verse with the Amplified Bible as well.  The three things that have been lifted up so far is faith and ask in the Son’s name.

I just looked at my bank account and found an electronic deposit that I was not expecting until the middle of June.

Thank you Father for your gift, I know that it was using faith in asking in the Son’s name that facilitated that I purpose towards thy word in Malachi 3:6-12 I will bring my tithe of your gift to your storehouse.
